The University of Manchester
“They are really impressive, particularly the Quantum one. It felt like the hardest one to articulate for a general audience.“
The Brief: We were brought on by the Faculty of Science and Engineering at The University of Manchester to support the launch of their five new research themes: Health, Materials, AI, Quantum and Net Zero. These themes were developed to better showcase the Faculty’s research strengths and to create a more cohesive identity across their communications. Our brief was to produce a set of engaging short films that would act as the foundation for a wider digital presence, highlighting the real-world impact of the research taking place across the Faculty.

We developed and delivered five distinctive films, each with its own tone and narrative, while ensuring they felt like part of a unified campaign. Our focus was on telling human-centred stories that reflect the breadth of people involved in research, from senior academics to postgraduate students, technical staff and professional support teams. The videos were designed to be warm, relatable and visually consistent, with each one showing how research at Manchester is making a tangible difference to people’s lives. The assets are now being used across web, social media and events, providing a clear and compelling starting point for the Faculty’s future research communications.
