A challenging but incredibly rewarding shoot made all the better by great weather, stunning scenery and a team in high spirits.
The Brief: We were brought in to produce a multi channel media pack for the PeatFix KTP, a partnership between Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and The University of Manchester focused on restoring peatlands across northern Yorkshire. The project aims to bring these vital landscapes back to life as thriving, carbon absorbing ecosystems.
Following years of hard work transforming the moors to encourage the regeneration of vegetation, our task was to capture the scale and impact of this achievement. The final media pack needed to celebrate the project’s success while serving as a compelling case study and testimonial for future collaborations.
Filming on the Yorkshire moors was equal parts challenging and rewarding. From a production perspective, the environment kept us on our toes and made us think fast. We kicked off the day with a full interview setup under a pop-up canopy, complete with key lights, softboxes and diffusion to soften the midday sun. The wind never really let up, so every stand and tripod was weighted down, and we had to keep an ear out for any wind noise creeping into the mic.
Once the interview was done, we packed up quickly and switched to a run and gun setup so we could move with the team out on the site. The soft, uneven peat meant travelling light was essential, so we relied on gimbal and handheld rig to get those natural, on-the-go shots. The breeze made everything a bit more complicated, but the clear skies and gentle light were on our side. It’s not often you get such perfect conditions up there, and it really helped us capture the spirit of the place and the people working on it.
